SUMMARY: Under general supervision; performs highly responsible, specialized work in the daily operation of the Nogales Police Department Public Safety Communications Center
SUPERVISION RECEIVED: Works under the supervision and direction of the Communications Supervisor or designee
SUPERVISION EXCERCISED: May exercise supervision over Public Safety Dispatchers in the absence of the Communications Supervisor
Duties And Responsibilities

- Receives and dispatches 911 and routine calls for service; logs call assignments
- Prioritizes calls for service and dispatches the appropriate number of agency officials for response
- Monitors status of units in the field for availability and officer safety
- Operates police/fire/medical radio and equipment
- Provide emergency first aid or Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) instructions, if required
- Logs and documents general information; performs data entry into automated systems
- Enters, modifies, confirms, and clears records including warrants, restraining orders, stalking orders, stolen property, and runaway juveniles updates
- Conducts local, state and national system searches
- Regularly queries other computer databases and systems to perform warrant checks, vehicle registration updates, and driver license information
- Relays various information within the Department and other law enforcement agencies
- Develops and maintains statistical data
- Files various documents
- Performs general office duties as assigned
- Supports the relationship between the City of Nogales and the general public
- Maintains confidentiality of work-related issues and City information
- Performs other duties as required or assigned

Minimum Qualifications
- Education, Training and Experience:
- High school diploma or GED equivalent
- Or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
Preferred Qualification(s)
- Three (3) years of responsible Police Communications or Records experience
- Spanish Language fluency
License And Certification Requirements
- Arizona Criminal Justice Information System Terminal A certification
- Public Safety Operator training program certification
Special Requirements
- Successful completion of a background investigation and polygraph examination
- Must be a U.S. Citizen
PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING ENVIRONMENT: Work is performed both in an office environment. May be required to lift and carry items weighing up to 25 pounds. Reasonable accommodations will be made as required.
