The
Risk Management Manager plays a vital role within the leadership team, assisting the
Director of Risk Management in implementing, maintaining, and improving the hospital's
Patient Safety and Risk Management Program.
This role is responsible for identifying and analyzing potential risks, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards, and promoting a culture of patient safety and continuous improvement throughout the organization.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in the development, implementation, and oversight of the hospital's Risk Management and Patient Safety Program.
- Conduct risk assessments, incident investigations, and root cause analyses to identify improvement opportunities.
- Collaborate with medical staff, clinical departments, and hospital leadership to mitigate risks and enhance patient safety.
- Ensure compliance with The Joint Commission (TJC), CMS/Client regulations, and hospital policies.
- Collect, analyze, and report data related to safety incidents, claims, and regulatory compliance.
- Serve as a liaison with insurance carriers, legal counsel, and regulatory agencies as needed.
- Support staff education and training on risk management principles and hospital policies.
- Maintain documentation, prepare reports, and participate in internal audits and accreditation reviews.
- Demonstrate strong leadership, organization, communication, and interpersonal skills, fostering collaboration across departments.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in a related field (required).
- One (1) to three (3) years of experience in Risk Management or related clinical experience (required).
- Strong knowledge of hospital operations, regulatory compliance, and patient safety principles.
- Excellent skills in communication, documentation, data analysis, and report writing.
- Proficiency in PC applications and hospital information systems.
Preferred Qualifications
- Certified Professional in Healthcare Risk Management (CPHRM) - preferred.
- Deep knowledge of Joint Commission Standards, CMS/Client Regulations, and accreditation requirements.
- Prior experience in a hospital or healthcare system risk management program.
- Demonstrated success in leading or supporting clinical risk mitigation initiatives.
