Description
The purpose of this position is to manage the police department budget for the City of Spartanburg and is responsible for the procurement and risk mitigation.
Examples of Duties
- Oversees planning, bidding, and managing of police department budget.
- Serves as consultant to support Chief of Police in strategic management of departmental resources.
- Provides financial advice to the Chief of Police and keeps others abreast of the financial status of the Police operating budget.
- Research and submit the Police Department's annual operating budget.
- Assists in fiscal planning efforts, project monitoring, and fiscal analyses including developing revenues and expenditure forecasts.
- Schedules and directs special purchases and their implementation.
- Prepares, monitors, and submit Police Department Operating Budget.
- Researches project development costs and orders supplies and vehicles for the department.
- Supervises, instructs, and provides leadership to subordinate staff.
- Utilizes supervisors to ensure work is completed in the most efficient and economical manner.
- Ensures compliance with local, state, and federal procurement laws and regulations.
- Receives and handles complaints providing assistance, information, and solutions as needed.
- Performs related work as assigned.
Typical Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree
- Four (4) years of experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
Supplemental Information
Pay depending on experience and qualifications. Starting salary is $75,275.20.
