Under the direction of the Deputy Tax Commissioner, the Tax Clerk provides a variety of routine to intermediate levels of support to the City's Tax Department. Primary responsibility will be preparing and auditing City tax returns. Other responsibilities include receipting and posting collected funds; maintaining all related tax forms, records and documents, and providing courteous and efficient service to taxpayers.

| Provides assistance to tax payers and the general public in researching records and provides general information on tax laws, policies and procedures. |
| Researching tax records for non-collections; entering and correctly updating tax records; documenting changes to tax records, etc. |

| Filing of tax forms, records and documents. |
| Answering questions over the phone or through the City’s website. |

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
Education and Experience:
Associate degree in Business Administration, Accounting or Finance and two (2) years’ experience in either a payroll, accounting, and/or bookkeeping preferably in a tax office setting; or
A High School diploma or equivalent with four (4) years’ experience in payroll, accounting, bookkeeping, or tax office setting.
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word.
Spanish speaking desirable.

Must be able to perform light work, exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally.
Must possess the visual acuity to prepare and analyze data and figures, operate computer, and do extensive reading and research
Working Conditions:
Work is performed in a normal office environment. Working conditions are typically moderately quiet. May require non-standard hours infrequently for project based work or based on operational need.
