The Utility Billing Clerk / Office Clerk serves as the primary customer service representative at City Hall, reporting to the City Clerk. This multifaceted role handles all aspects of utility billing for water, sewer, and electric services, including processing meter readings, preparing and mailing bills, accepting payments and deposits, reconciling accounts, issuing second notices and delinquent account information, and tracking rental housing licenses. Additional duties include preparing monthly journal entries and financial reports, providing backup support for administrative office clerk and police secretary functions, and performing other clerical tasks as needed. The position requires strong customer service and public interaction skills, clear oral and written communication, proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel, organizational abilities, and the capacity to learn new software. Preferred qualifications include two years of college, technical, or business school in secretarial/bookkeeping plus two years of related experience. Subject to background check.
