NOW HIRING – PUBLIC WORKS DIRECTOR
The City of Heyburn is seeking a skilled and collaborative Public Works Director to lead the operations of our Public Works Department. The Director oversees Engineering, Water, Wastewater, Irrigation, Streets, Sanitation, GIS, Parks & Recreation, and Electrical divisions.
Key Responsibilities
• Lead and manage Public Works staff and operations
• Develop short- and long-term goals and capital improvement plans
• Prepare and administer the department budget
• Oversee construction projects, contracts, and consultants
• Ensure regulatory compliance at federal, state, and local levels
• Respond to emergencies, outages, and public concerns
• Maintain communication with Mayor, Council, and City staff
• Manage department fleet, equipment, and maintenance plans
Qualifications
• High school diploma or GED required
• Bachelor’s degree in public administration or related field preferred
• Ten (10) years of experience in public works or related field
• Five (5) years of supervisory experience preferred
• Idaho CDL (or ability to obtain)
• Must pass background check
Skills & Abilities
• Strong leadership, organization, and communication
• Knowledge of public works operations and infrastructure
• Ability to interpret regulations and ensure compliance
• Experience with budgeting, project management, and training
• Proficient with Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and email
• Ability to work in office and outdoor field environments
Wage
Annual Salary: $65,000–$85,000 DOE
