The City of Williamsburg's Finance Department is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Deputy Director. The Deputy Director of Finance is a key leadership position within the Finance Department, working closely with the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to manage and oversee the City’s financial operations. This role helps lead and execute essential financial functions while providing strategic guidance to promote transparency, regulatory compliance, and responsible fiscal stewardship. The position collaborates extensively with the Audit Director, Information Technology, City departments, Finance staff, and external partners to support effective financial management across the organization.
Education And Experience
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in accounting or a related field; and
- Seven (7) years of progressive accounting experience in a local government finance department; or
- An equivalent combination of education and experience.
Special Qualifications
- Valid Virginia Driver’s License
- Acceptable criminal background check and drug screen results
Preferred Qualifications
- Certified Public Finance Officer (CPFO)
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA)
