This internship is available for the Spring or Summer semester.
Under the direction of the Special Events & Marketing Specialist, performs various tasks as necessary to the marketing and operational duties of the St. George Museum of Art. This internship integrates marketing and communications strategies with digital platforms and content management systems.
1. Support social media management under the direction of the Special Events & Marketing Specialist
a. Assist with regular posting across all social media platforms (Instagram stories, reels, feed posts, Facebook posts, events, etc.)
b. Monitor and respond to comments, DMs, and engage with followers to build community.
2. Create and capture content for social media platforms, including but not limited to graphics, photography, video editing, caption writing, etc.
3. Capture event content by photographing and filming events, classes, tours, artist talks, and other programming.
4. Assist with external marketing coordination, including press releases and communications with media partners and the city's Communications and Marketing Director.
5. Help maintain the museum’s website, support newsletter production and publication in coordination with monthly social media content calendar
6. Collaborate with other team members to stay on top of upcoming programming and promotional opportunities.
7. Responds to public inquiries about museum programs and services
8. Provide general administrative support, including office duties and other tasks as assigned
9. Follow all city policies and procedures.
Typical Physical/Mental Demands/Working Conditions
? Light physical effort in both office and event environments, involving event setup and breakdown, some requiring carrying up to 50 pounds.
? Intermittent sitting, standing, and walking. Occasional exposure to stress from meeting project deadlines. Some weekend and evening work is required for special events and program execution.
Education: Current enrollment in an accredited college or university, having completed at least
the freshman year. Preferred majors include Marketing, Communications, Public Relations,
Digital Media, or related disciplines.
Experience: Demonstrated positive work experience with no terminations for cause. Volunteer
involvement in museums or cultural heritage projects is advantageous. Art handling experience
preferred but not required
Licenses and/or Certifications: Must possess a valid driver's license and maintain it throughout
employment.
Knowledge of:
? Social media platforms and best practices (Instagram, Facebook, etc.)
? Working knowledge of Google Suite and Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator,
Premiere, etc.)
? Content creation, including photography, videography, and graphic design
Ability to:
? Communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing
? Establish and maintain effective relationships with the public and staff
? Prioritize tasks and work efficiently under pressure
? Manage multiple projects simultaneously
? Willingness to learn content management systems, email marketing platforms,
and general office technology
Additional Internship Information:
Applicants must provide transcripts indicating proof of academic standing, degree major, and
current enrollment at the time of application submission. Interns must remain enrolled and
attend school to maintain eligibility. This internship is temporary, offered for the Spring 2026
semester, requiring availability for weekends, evenings, and varied schedules as needed.
Transportation/Housing: Interns are responsible for their own transportation to and from work
and arranging their housing.
College/University: The college/university advisor will coordinate with the City of St. George
Internship Coordinator to ensure educational requirements are achieved and stay in
communication to monitor intern progress. On-site visits are encouraged.
