The City of Spartanburg is seeking a highly qualified professional to supervise the City’s Revenue collections within the Finance Department. Overseeing business license revenue, hospitality taxes, and other municipal fees. This position supervises two staff members, performs revenue analysis, and ensures accurate and timely accounting in accordance with governmental accounting standards. The role reports directly to the Director of Finance & Budget.
- Oversee daily revenue collections and provide guidance and supervision to revenue technicians.
- Perform daily accounting and financial operations to support accurate revenue reporting.
- Maintain the City’s central accounting system and ensure strong financial controls in compliance with generally accepted governmental accounting principles (GAAP).
- Review and approve accounting codes for various revenue sources.
- Process and reconcile county tax payments.
- Prepare, review, and maintain financial records, reports, and supporting documentation.
- Develop, implement, and recommend efficient and effective operational policies and procedures.
- Assist with preparation of the Annual Comprehensive Financial Report (ACFR) in coordination with the accounting division.
- Prepare and maintain financial reporting schedules and related files.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Minimum of five (5) years of experience in revenue accounting, preferably within a governmental environment.
- At least three (3) years of supervisory experience.
- Strong computer and financial systems skills.
Pay depending on experience and qualifications. Starting salary is $58,988.80 annually or higher depending on experience.
