GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES
Supervises social workers responsible for high-risk families, and/or individuals.
DISTINGUISHING FEATURES OF THE CLASS
This is a supervisory position that requires assigning and reviewing work/case records of the social workers being supervised. Work includes developing work plans, enforcing work standards for the positions within the control of this position. This position also requires interviewing, selection, developing performance appraisals, and training of new staff members, addressing disciplinary issues and handling employee grievances.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Essential Duties and Tasks
Conduct audits and reviews of the Child and Family Services Program through reading and reviewing case records to ensure the program is following local, state, and federal standards and policies, and ensures the practice reflects agency values
Possess extensive knowledge of child welfare standards and practices and local, state, and federal child and family services policy

Interpersonal communication skills to elicit information and clarification of issues
Good listening, oral, and written communication skills
Good organizational skills, record-keeping and report preparation techniques related to case review
Ability to use computer programs to generate reports, and outcomes in a variety of formats that are easy for staff to understand
Ability to set priorities and determine resource requirements and sequence of activities needed to achieve goals
Ability to work cooperatively with other team members, involves others, shares information as appropriate and shares credit for team accomplishments
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- MSW from an accredited school of social work and two years professional social work or counseling experience
- BSW from an accredited school of social work and three years of professional social work or counseling experience
- Master's degree in a counseling field and two years professional social work or counseling experience
- Bachelors degree in a human service field or related curriculum and three years professional social work or counseling experience
- Bachelors degree from an accredited college/university and four years professional experience in a related human service field providing experience in the techniques of casework, group work or community organization
- Must have possession of an appropriate driver's license issued by the State of North Carolina
- A motor vehicle record (MVR), background check, and drug screening will be conducted on candidates considered for positions
- Prefer North Carolina Social Services experience
Residency Requirement
Candidate must reside within a two-hour driving radius of Guilford County to be considered for employment.

Physical Demands
An employee in this position must be able to physically perform the basic life operational functions of fingering, talking, hearing, and repetitive motions. The employee must be able to perform sedentary work exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently and/or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body.
Working Conditions
Work consists of office environment. No adverse environmental conditions.
May Require Driving
This position may require driving for this position whether driving a County owned or personal vehicle to conduct county business such as but not limited to attending conferences, meetings, or any other county related functions. Motor Vehicle Reports may be verified for valid driver's license and that the driving record is compatible with the county's driving criteria.
If a personal vehicle is operated for county business proper insurance is maintained as per Guilford County's vehicle use policy.
