The City of Salem is seeking a dynamic and strategic Community Engagement Manager to lead our public engagement efforts, make a significant impact in the community, and share the City's story with a diverse range of audiences. This role will direct the City’s public engagement strategies and manage a comprehensive suite of communications tools, including public relations, branding, media relations, and digital media. The Community Engagement Manager will provide strategic support and recommend initiatives to the City Manager's Office, Mayor, and City Council to foster citizen participation and interest in City government.

What You Will Do
The Community Engagement Manager will lead outreach and volunteer initiatives, represent the City at engagement events, support elected officials and City leadership strategically, collaborate across departments and community programs, and develop innovative initiatives that promote inclusive and resilient services.

- Serve as the engagement resource for initiatives and lead volunteer recognition efforts.
- Represent the City at outreach and community engagement events.
- Partner with youth and neighborhood engagement initiatives to strengthen community involvement.
- Provide strategic counsel and support to the City Manager’s Office, the Mayor, and the City Council.
- Collaborate with City departments and staff to communicate key messages and foster community engagement.
- Develop, implement, and refine community programs that promote resilience and equitable service delivery.

- Position schedule is Monday through Friday between the hours of 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
- Our team follows a hybrid work structure where employees can work remotely or from the office (440 Church Street, SE), as needed, based on demands of specific tasks and manager approval. This is subject to change based on business needs.

What Are The Minimum Qualifications
- Must pass the pre-employment background check.
- Must have reliable transportation (e.g., carpool, rideshare, public transit, walking, biking) to report to and from work sites, events, trainings, and meetings.
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in business or public administration, engineering, environmental services, planning, or in a related field, and four years of experience in a related field, or any combination of education, experience and training that demonstrate possession of the knowledge, skills, and abilities as listed, and ability to perform the essential job functions.
