Forsyth County's Management Information Services (MIS) is seeking to fill an open IT Networking Analyst position. This position requires extensive use of problem-solving and technical skills by identifying challenges, initiating projects, and creating solutions with minimal oversight. Ample opportunity for collaboration with MIS peers, MIS leadership, County Directors and County teams members as well as working across unique departments and leading project teams and updating stakeholders. IT Networking Analyst performs installation, prepares RFP’s and works with vendors for the successful installation and routing of structured cabling, labeling of ETH and fiber optic cables through conduits, ceilings, and floors. Termination and proper testing while using Fluke Networks or similar certifiers to verify performance and document results. Diagnose and repair physical layer malfunctions, including signal loss, crosstalk, and damaged connectors. Maintain accurate records and diagrams of cable runs, stock levels, and specialized tools. Other duties include installation and support of audio and visual communication systems. This role supports increased productivity, prevents costly repairs, and ensures compliance with equipment warranties by managing digital displays and associated audio.
A successful candidate should have the following knowledge, skills and abilities:
Knowledge of designing, implementing and maintaining a system integration infrastructure.
Knowledge of networking hardware and software.
Knowledge of a wide range of computer equipment.
Ability to analyze complex problems that arise in networking.
Ability to present clear oral and written recommendations.
Ability to maintain effective working relationships with others.
Graduation from a four-year college with course work in computer science or related field and two years PC-related experience.
Prefer vendor certifications in hardware maintenance, host connectivity, and local area networking.
A four-year degree outside of the relevant academic field plus additional years of relevant experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered for minimum qualifications requirements.
Must have a valid driver's license.
This position is subject to working in high security areas governed by the US Department of Justice’s “Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) Security Policy” and therefore requires successfully passing a more stringent criminal background check.
