The City of Collinsville is accepting applications for a full-time position of IT Technician. Under the direction of the Director of IT, the IT Technician provides end-user support and training as well as maintenance and troubleshooting for computer hardware and peripherals, servers, network infrastructure, telecommunication systems, and the city's software environment. In coordination with the HR department, the IT Technician provides new user onboarding training. The IT Technician serves as the primary help desk manager. The IT Technician reports help desk metrics to the IT Director for KPI reporting. The IT Technician is part of a rotating on-call schedule and is required to respond after-hours and on weekends for IT emergencies.
Job Responsibilities
The duties for this position include, but are not limited to:
- Maintains all of the City's end-user IT equipment.
- Troubleshoots issues relating to PCs/laptops, printers/MFPs, mobile devices, IP desk phones.
- Deploys new end-user equipment.
- Assists with maintenance of both physical and virtual servers; performs software upgrades and patching and troubleshoots technical issues.
- Working knowledge of Windows Active Directory, Microsoft Exchange, VMWare or another hypervisor, DNS, and DHCP required.
- Assists with maintenance, upgrades, and troubleshooting on the City's IP network including switches, firewalls, APs, and point-to-point wireless devices.
- Tracks equipment and materials and maintains inventories.
- Provides systems support, maintenance, and testing for proper upkeep of systems.
- Make recommendations to the IT Director about purchasing decisions and policy changes.
- Ability to work under pressure, meet deadlines, and remain in control in stressful situations.
- Perform administrative related duties as required.
Qualifications
At least an Associate Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, 1+ years' experience supporting computer networks and systems, or a combination of education and experience. Relevant IT certification(s) is preferred.
Salary And Benefits
Salary range is $54,537.60 to $58,760.00 per year, depending on qualifications. This position is hourly, eligible for overtime and compensation time
