Advertisement FlyerPerforms intermediate skilled clerical work providing tax support, assistance, and information to general public and performing a variety of office assistance tasks such as: assists the public with tax information on real and personal property via telephone, mail, email, or visiting the office; generates property record cards, abstracts, paid or unpaid tax bills, and maps as requested; processes and keys motor vehicle releases, refunds, and adjustments; prepares bond forms as requested; keys new addresses into the system; researches new addresses on returned mail for entire department; receives and receipts miscellaneous fees; runs queries and fulfills data requests for the public; assists with projects in other divisions including Listing, Collections, and Appraisal to include data entry, filing, and research; assists Land Records with deed identification; assist Collections with all mailings; performs other related tasks as required. Work is performed under the regular supervision of the Tax Customer Service Supervisor.
• General knowledge of standard office methods and procedures, business English, spelling, and arithmetic
• Ability to operate standard office and data entry equipment
• Microsoft Office experience
• Thorough knowledge of tax listing, appraisal, mapping, and collections programs, policies, and procedures
• Ability to make decisions relating to assigned operations in conformance with applicable laws and policies
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with associates and the general public
• High School Diploma or equivalent from an appropriately accredited institution
and three (3) years of progressively responsible secretarial or clerical/administrative/office management experience
OR • Associate degree from an appropriately accredited institution in Secretarial Science or Business Administration or related field
and one (1) year of progressively responsible secretarial or clerical/administrative/office management experience
OR • Bachelor’s degree from an appropriately accredited institution preferably with major emphasis on coursework in Business Administration, Public Administration, or other related field
• Must possess and maintain a valid North Carolina driver’s license.
This is sedentary work requiring the exertion of 10 pounds of force occasionally and a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to move objects; work requires stooping, crouching, reaching, walking, lifting, grasping, and repetitive motions; vocal communication is required for expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word and conveying detailed or important instructions to others accurately, loudly, or quickly; hearing is required to perceive information at normal spoken word levels and to receive detailed information through oral communications and/or to make fine distinctions in sound; visual acuity is required for preparing and analyzing written or computer data, operation of machines, determining the accuracy and thoroughness of work, and observing general surroundings and activities
