Job Responsibilities
Ramsey Grove State Park is approximately 2,600 acres in Georgetown County on the Black River that was historically managed as a hunting retreat. Home to an expansive roosting site for local waterfowl and a picturesque grove of giant oak trees, the property includes an array of diverse forest habitats, including bottomland hardwood, cypress-tupelo, creek hardwood, upland hardwood, pine-hardwood, natural pine, and planted pine. This park is scheduled to open later this year.
Job Purpose And Duties
Under general supervision assists with overall operation and maintenance of a state park. Performs diversified duties as governed by general instruction, policies and standard operating procedures of the department. Assumes the responsibilities of the park manager in the absence of higher level employees.
- Assists with the administrative activities to include, but not limited to, receiving and documenting revenues, preparing reports, and making payments in accordance with standard operating procedures.
- Supervise and directs other full and part time employees as directed by the Park Manager.
- Enforces park rules, regulations and policies within established limits and in accordance with department policy.
- Assists with long- and short-term maintenance projects. Makes frequent inspection to assure safe and satisfactory conditions. Directs and conducts maintenance on grounds, facilities and equipment to assure that they are maintained to the standards set forth by the department policy.
- Assists with the operational activities to include supervising specific areas such as day use areas, overnight accommodations or special use facilities.
- Work to accomplish the mission of the Park Service through the core values of Stewardship and Service. Effectively deliver quality customer service and address visitor concerns in a timely manner. Work to ensure that visitors leave with a positive experience and desire to return.
- Practice and promote teamwork within the work unit/office, throughout the agency and with external agency stakeholders. Represents office as an active member on agency teams assigned throughout the year.
- Employee will be required to live in designated park housing to provide for security, safety and emergency response.
Minimum And Additional Requirements
Associate degree in park management or related field with one (1) year of park ranger experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Additional Requirements
- Position requires medium to heavy lifting, walking and standing on uneven terrain, crawling and working at heights. Exposure to weather conditions, cleaning agents and other material used in maintaining park facilities and grounds.
- Must possess a valid South Carolina driver's license.
- Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing. Ability to effectively supervise others.

Actual Job Location: Ramsey Grove State Park.
Full-time, 40 hours per week rotating schedule including weekends and holidays.
