About The Position
The City of Saint Paul is hiring two Animal Services Officer I's to support the Saint Paul Animal Services Center during the busy summer season to assist with increased service demands and shelter operations. This temporary opportunity offers valuable hands-on experience in animal care, shelter operations, ordinance enforcement, and public service for individuals who are passionate about animal welfare and who enjoy working with our St. Paul community.
Here’s What You Can Expect To Do
- Provide daily care for shelter animals, including feeding, cleaning, monitoring health and behavior, and assisting with intake examinations.
- Assist residents at the shelter by answering questions, processing animal licenses and permits, and educating the public on animal-related ordinances and responsible pet ownership.

Information Specific to this Position:
The Saint Paul Animal Services Center is located at 1285 Jessamine Ave. W., Saint Paul, Minnesota 55108, Shifts available are Sunday-Thursday and Tuesday-Saturday, 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., to include supporting holiday coverage as needed.

Position Requirements
One year of experience handling animals working in an animal shelter, zoo, veterinary clinic setting, or equivalent setting.
Must possess and maintain a valid Minnesota Class D Driver's License or equivalent out of state driver's license.
The requirements below apply to positions in a certified/permanent status:
Must possess or obtain a basic Animal Control Officer certification within one year of hire.
Must obtain and maintain authorization from the SPAC veterinarian of record to euthanize animals within twelve months of appointment.
