Job Summary:
Responsible for the maintenance, repair and minor installation of all campus irrigation systems. Supervise district irrigation crew. Must be licensed through the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality.
Required Qualifications:
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Responsible for the maintenance, repair, and minor installation of all campus irrigation systems, while addressing water conservation requirements according to the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality.
- Must know all aspects of repair and installation of landscape irrigation, including disassembly and reassembly of irrigation valves, electrical wiring, and troubleshooting, and operate within department, municipal, state, and federal guidelines. Properly prepare pertinent reports.
- Maintain inventory of parts needed for irrigation system maintenance; keep parts and stockroom clean and organized.
- Direct and oversee assigned staff and equipment for district wide irrigation projects.
- Report to and coordinate tasks with Grounds Manager or Grounds Foreman.
- Identify other landscape problems and initiate solutions or report them immediately.
- Perform other tasks such as mowing edging, planting, pruning and other landscape oriented job functions.
- Periodically conduct pesticide applications under supervision and fill out proper reports.

- Ability to work alone, or with other Grounds Department personnel and follow detailed instructions given by the Grounds Manager or Grounds Foreman
- Must be physically able to perform strenuous work, often under adverse weather conditions
Physical Demands, Working Conditions and Physical Effort
Medium Work - Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly having to move objects. Positions in this class typically include talking, hearing, seeing, grasping, standing, walking and repetitive motions, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and reaching, climbing and balancing, plus pushing, pulling and lifting. Incumbents may be subjected to moving mechanical parts, odors, dusts, poor ventilation, chemicals, oils, extreme temperatures, inadequate lighting and intense noises, gases and workspace restrictions. In addition, incumbents may be subjected to vibrations, chemicals and oils. Frequent exposure to unpleasant environmental conditions and/or hazards. Majority of work performed outside or with exposure to risk. Frequent physical effort required.
Requirements
High school diploma or equivalent.
Three (3) years irrigation experience, plus five (5) years of leadership experience in general landscaping.
Licenses and Certifications
Must hold a current Irrigator License through TCEQ (Texas Commission on Environmental Quality).
Must possess a current State of Texas driver license.

Hiring Maximum
$62,774.50
Compensation is determined based on experience.
