The City of Buffalo is seeking a highly organized, detail-oriented professional to serve as City Clerk — a key leadership role central to municipal operations and effective local governance. As the City’s official record keeper, the City Clerk ensures transparency, accountability, and compliance with state laws governing municipal operations.
Key responsibilities include preparing City Council agendas, packets, and minutes; managing official records, ordinances, resolutions, and legal notices; overseeing records retention and compliance with the Minnesota Government Data Practices Act and Open Meeting Law; and administering local, state, and federal elections as the City’s Local Election Administrator.
The City Clerk also coordinates licensing and permits, supports the City Council and City Administrator with confidential administrative functions, and serves as a liaison to the public. Ideal candidates value public service, thrive in a fast-paced environment, possess strong organizational and communication skills, and have experience with elections, records management, and municipal administration.
