Description
The Human Services and Public Health Department’s (HSPHD) Financial Analysis and Accounting Unit is seeking an Office Specialist III to assist clients. This position is located in the Century Plaza Building at 330 South 12th Street in downtown Minneapolis.
You must be a current permanent or probationary employee of HSPHD to qualify for this position.
Primary Duties And Responsibilities Include
- Issue new and replacement Electronic Benefit Transfer (EBT) cards.
- Issue replacement emergency assistance and other program checks issued for Hennepin County by the State of Minnesota.
- Process client claim benefit overpayments and record transactions in database.
- Disburse vouchers and/or checks to clients.
- Disburse tokens and/or cash for clients' public transportation needs.
- End-of-day fund balancing to make sure funds taken in and disbursed match daily report.
The Ideal Candidate Must Have - One of the following:
- Two or more years of full-time office/clerical experience (or part-time experience to equal two years of full-time experience).
- Two or more years of related post high school education.
- An approved combination of education and experience.
- Accounting experience is desirable.
- Experience using computer systems, including Microsoft Word, Excel and Access, and Lotus Notes or Microsoft Outlook; experience using the State of Minnesota’s online eligibility system (MAXIS) is desirable.
- Experience handling cash that includes making change.
- Customer service experience and the ability to communicate clearly with a diverse client population.
- Ability to demonstrate the employee competencies.
