Position Overview
This role is designed for a builder - you will serve as a senior member of the company’s legal team and work closely with the General Counsel and executive leadership. This individual will provide hands-on legal support across government programs, commercial transactions, corporate matters, regulatory requirements, and day-to-day business operations.
The position is best suited to a practical, business-minded attorney who is comfortable independently managing complex matters, working across technical and nontechnical teams, and establishing processes that support a growing organization.
Responsibilities
- Draft, review, and negotiate commercial agreements, government-related contracts, supplier agreements, and other business transactions.
- Advise internal stakeholders on legal requirements associated with government customers, commercial partners, and regulated programs.
- Review solicitations, proposals, purchase orders, subcontracts, and related contractual documentation.
- Support compliance with export-control regulations and other requirements applicable to aerospace and defense organizations.
- Identify legal, contractual, and regulatory risks and provide practical recommendations to company leadership.
- Assist with corporate governance, financing activities, employment matters, and strategic business initiatives.
- Develop and maintain contract templates, internal policies, review procedures, and legal documentation.
- Coordinate with external counsel and regulatory bodies as required.
Qualifications
- Law degree (J.D.) and an active license to practice law.
- 5+ years of relevant legal experience
- 2+ years working in-house at a venture-backed startup or high-growth technology company.
- Experience supporting aerospace, defense, technology, manufacturing, or government contracting businesses.
- Strong experience drafting, reviewing, and negotiating commercial and government contracts.
- Working knowledge of ITAR, EAR, and other applicable regulatory requirements.
- Experience advising senior leaders and cross-functional teams on legal and business matters.
- Comfortable managing multiple priorities and working independently in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong judgment, communication, and negotiation skills.
