What You’ll Do (Impact You’ll Own)
Partner & Translate
- Collaborate with city departments to understand priorities, improve data literacy, and turn requirements into clear specs.
- Train staff to navigate and update dashboards, making data accessible for all.
Build & Modernize
- Cleanse, analyze, and interpret data to guide operational and strategic decisions.
- Design secure, reliable pipelines and integrations (APIs, ETL, SFTP) that automate data flow and elevate quality.
- Streamline workflows, consolidate reporting platforms, and migrate/archival of historical datasets to modern systems.
Develop & Maintain
- Craft intuitive dashboards and reports (Power BI, SSRS) that surface actionable insights.
- Respond to ad hoc requests with timely, accurate analysis.
- Develop advanced, custom reporting in Workday to support financial and human capital analytics.
- Serve as the technical owner for our strategy management solution—building metrics for internal teams and public‑facing transparency dashboards.
Steward & Govern
- Maintain an inventory of data assets (sources, owners, refresh cadences, reporting tools).
- Standardize definitions, naming conventions, and business rules; strengthen classification, retention, and risk practices.
- Contribute to policies and standards that ensure reliable, secure, and compliant reporting.

- Understand data governance, quality assurance, and accessible dashboard design.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Data Science, Statistics, Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field —or equivalent experience.
- 5+ years in data analytics/business intelligence/reporting within multi‑system, multi‑department environments (public‑sector experience preferred).
- Experience with system integrations, data conversion/migration, and advanced, custom reporting in enterprise systems; Workday experience preferred.
A Few Practical Notes
- You may occasionally support after‑hours data refreshes, upgrades, outages, and emergency response.
- The role includes some hands‑on work in office environments (e.g., under‑desk hardware access).
