CAMP COORDINATOR
Summary
Under the direction of the Recreation Superintendent, the Camp Coordinator oversees the development, implementation, promotion, and evaluation of ‘Just for Kids’ Summer Day Camp program in accordance with the mission and goals of the City of Seguin Parks and Recreation Department. Makes decisions requiring mature judgment. The Camp Coordinator may not work over 40 hours per week.
Duties And Responsibilities
- In cooperation with the Recreation Superintendent, responsible for the planning and implementation of day-to-day programming, special camp-wide theme programs and special events for the ‘Just for Kids’ Camp Program.
- Plan, attend, implement, and participate in employee orientation and all scheduled staff/planning meetings
- Provides strong leadership and supervision to staff.
- Takes daily attendance and ensures that all campers are accounted for at all times.
- Maintain a staff to student ratio of 1 to 12 at all times. Responsible for sending staff home if numbers are low.
- Direct activity schedule for each session. Assign activity leaders based off their strengths and talents. Prepares materials for activities. Submit orders for equipment and supplies when needed, ensuring the timely arrival of materials.
- Coordinates and supervises all field trips.
Qualifications, Skills And Abilities
- Minimum of 18 years of age and possess valid Texas Driver’s License
- Have a minimum of 3 years related experience(supervising children aged 6-12), and the ability to provide leadership and direction to the Camp Program.
- Must have the ability to teach, supervise and motivate children and adults, creatively schedule programs, show interest and enthusiasm, and have the knowledge and skills in a variety of camp program areas.
- Must be able to make decisions requiring mature judgement.
- Must be able to obtain CPR & First Aid certification prior to the start of camp.
- Starting Pay: $15.00/hour
