The City of Wyoming, home to approximately 78,000 residents in the Grand Rapids metropolitan area, is seeking an experienced Police Chief to provide strategic leadership for the Wyoming Police Department.
This executive leadership position oversees a department of 103 sworn officers and 14 civilian staff members and plays a critical role in advancing public safety, strengthening community relationships, and fostering a culture of professionalism, accountability, and trust. The Chief will work closely with city leadership to guide departmental operations, support organizational goals, and ensure exceptional service to residents.
Key Responsibilities Include
Providing strategic leadership and oversight for police department operations
Building strong partnerships with residents, businesses, and community organizations
Managing budgets, policies, projects, and operational initiatives
Leading and developing department personnel while promoting professional excellence
Representing the department through public engagement, media relations, and community outreach
Qualified candidates will have a bachelor's degree in criminal justice, police administration, or a related field, senior command experience at the rank of captain, deputy chief, or chief, and advanced professional leadership training such as the FBI National Academy or Northwestern School of Police Staff and Command.
