Position: Executive Director Pecos Area Chamber of Commerce and CVB
Reports To: The Board of Directors
Overview
The Executive Directors responsibilities are to plan, organize and promote a
range of services and events in support of Chamber members, as well as
promoting the greater Pecos Area as a tourist destination. The Director is
accountable for how the Pecos Area Chamber of Commerce and CVB is
perceived by the community and is also tasked with building a culture of
excellence, collaboration, accountability and professional standards throughout
the organization.
Responsibilities
Financial Management
- Oversee the general finances of the Chamber.
- Work with the finance committee to Develop an annual budget for the
Chamber's operations that delineate projected revenues and expenses and a projected net profit as appropriate.
- Lead, direct and develop Chamber's fund-raising strategies and capital
campaigns.
Personnel and Office Management
- Oversee the management of chamber staff including hiring, firing,
performance reviews, salary and benefits administration, policy and general
supervision.
- Coach and develop the internal leadership team to attain consistent, highly
effective performance.
- Develop and implement continuous improvement initiatives, create better
business practices and an organizational structure that will optimize
performance and operating results.
- Maintain an office space and atmosphere that is presentable to members and
visitors (to Include repairs and maintenance items)
- Responsible for purchase, storage, and use of all marketing items and office
supplies.
Advertising & Marketing
- Develop and implement a Comprehensive Marketing and Advertising Plan for
The Chamber, and its members.
- Promote Pecos as a tourist Destination.
- Website. Update content, Search Optimization, and Rebuild as necessary.
- Create and implement a Digital Marketing Campaign on various social platforms to promote membership and Pecos in general.
- Stock and Maintain information about member businesses in the Office.
- Maintain office hours to maximize visitor interaction.
- Act as liaison between tourism industry partners and chamber members to maximize all services available to visitors. Offer assistance at non-chamber community events where necessary and reasonable.
Member Services and Community events
- Hold Revenue generating Events that promote networking opportunities such
as Chamber Mixers, After Hour Gatherings, Annual Banquet.
- Hold revenue generating educational and business support events such as Business Forums and Expos, Trade shows, lectures, workshops, training seminars and job fairs.
- Identify and develop revenue generating community events such as holiday parades, heritage festivals, Art Festivals, NIOP, Dances, Rodeos.
- Engage the City and County and advocate on Members behalf to promote
business friendly policies.
Strategic Planning, Governance, Other.
- Develop goals and long-range plans of the chamber.
- Work with the Chair to prepare agendas and materials for Board and Executive Committee meetings
- Assure that organization priorities are responsive to member needs and serve
to advance the City of Pecos economic welfare.
- Attend Chamber Board committee meetings and provide staff support to
committee efforts.
- Maintain open communication with the Board, and work with the Board in the governance of the Chamber; bring issues to the Board in a timely fashion.

- Support the officers of the Chamber.
- Ensure Bylaws are followed.
- Operate within and advance the policies of the Chamber.
- Serve as the principal spokesperson and ambassador for the Chamber.
- Develop and maintain a positive and helpful relationship with city and county governmental agencies, neighboring Chambers and the State chamber.
- Build partnerships with other community organizations.
- Represent the Chamber at business and community events, meetings, etc.

- Event Planning
- Must be able to Create, Plan, Organize, and Monetize Member events, Fundraising Events, Business Forums, Meetings, etc.
- Must have demonstrated experience with securing sponsorships and creating financially successful events.
- Physical Requirements
- Standing long hours during events.
- Duties may include considerable bending, carrying, and lifting up to 50 pounds.
Professional Experience.
- Minimum of 5-10 years management/executive level experience in a business-related field or other leadership position, including supervision of professional staff and oversight of finances.
- Previous Chamber management experience preferred.
- Working knowledge of local, regional and state-level political systems and experience in developing collaborative relationships in these areas.
- Minimum of 3 years P&L responsibility.
Educational And Experience Requirements
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university required; or
comparable professional training.
- Experience with Chamber and or CVB in a Management Capacity.
- Minimum of 5 years management/executive level experience in a
business-related field or other leadership position, including supervision of professional staff and oversight of finances.
- Previous Chamber management experience preferred.
- Working knowledge of local, regional and state-level political systems and experience in developing collaborative relationships in these areas.

Employment and Salary
- $70,000 - $95,000 per year
- Must live in or relocate to the Reeves County area.
