Job Description And Duties
Under the direction of the Associate Warden, Business Services, the Fire Chief plans, organizes and directs the fire prevention, fire suppression, fire education and safety training program at the institution. Directly supervises Fire Captains, Associate Hazardous Materials Specialist, and indirectly supervises inmate firefighters. Promotes acceptable attitudes and behavior of inmates under supervision and performs other related tasks. Manage the mutual and automatic aid agreements with the outside fire agencies. In collaboration with the California State Fire Marshal’s Office, reviews plans for building additions, alterations and new construction, and advises institutional management of equipment replacement.
Individuals who are eligible for a Training and Development assignment may also be considered for this position.

Candidates new to CDCR/CCHCS are required to submit to a background investigation process utilizing Live Scan Fingerprinting, as well as a Tuberculosis test/evaluation prior to appointment, followed by department annual Tuberculosis testing/evaluation thereafter.
