Logistics Operations Manager
Position Summary:
The Operations Manager oversees the Road Operations team within a designated region, managing people, client relationships, and operational excellence. This role involves handling escalations, ensuring client satisfaction, and driving operational efficiency. Founded in 1976 the company has grown to become the world’s 3rd largest global transport and logistics provider. Operating in over 80 countries, they offer comprehensive supply chain solutions, including transportation, storage, packaging, and processing.
Key Responsibilities:
People Management:
- Ensure optimal staffing and coverage for absences.
- Conduct performance assessments and provide feedback.
- Train and develop team members, ensuring adherence to SOPs and corporate policies.
- Monitor compliance with operational standards and promote team development.
Client Relationship:
- Build and maintain client relationships; act as an escalation point.
- Manage third-party service providers to deliver top-tier service.
- Address and resolve invoice payment issues.
- Ensure client satisfaction with shipment bookings, delivery, and updates.
Operational Excellence:
- Verify accuracy and timeliness of client invoices.
- Apply technical knowledge to meet strategic goals and improve processes.
- Review performance reports to identify trends and areas for improvement.
- Support the sales team with operational expertise and assist with budget management.
Finance:
- Set and achieve quarterly objectives and monthly targets.
- Manage costs and budget commitments effectively.
- Monitor and report on revenue targets and operational performance.
- Ensure compliance with internal and external controls.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- Lead and motivate the team, setting goals and priorities.
- Handle hiring, training, and retention of team members.
- Foster a culture of operational excellence and innovation.
Qualifications:
Education & Experience:
- Associate's Degree in Logistics or related field, with 1 year of management experience.
- Alternatively, 3 years of relevant experience in team management, budget oversight, and client relationship management.
Skills & Knowledge:
- Proficient in Excel, basic Microsoft Word, and PowerPoint.
- Strong understanding of LTL, Truck Load, and trucking market trends.
- Excellent organizational, communication, and customer service skills.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks with attention to detail.
Preferred Qualifications:
- In-depth knowledge of dispatch, driver management, and related technologies.
Physical Demands & Work Environment:
- Ability to use hands, reach, stoop, kneel, and talk or hear.
- Must be able to travel by plane and automobile.
- Work environment typically involves low to moderate noise levels and minimal exposure to hazardous conditions.
