JOB SUMMARY
Perform office and administrative work of routine difficulty in Animal Care & Control. This position works under close supervision and has daily contact with animals. Positions at this level are assigned routine/standardized or recurring duties.

TYPICAL CLASSIFICATION ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
- Answer questions from staff and the public.
- Compile information and prepare reports.
- Format, compose, type, and prepare routine correspondence.
- Maintain office records and files.
- Prepare and process confidential and sensitive documents.
- Schedule meetings.
- Screen telephone calls and route to appropriate individuals.
- Take meeting minutes.
- Responsible for inventory and ordering supplies.
- Gather information from various agencies.
- Receive and distribute correspondence and receive, sort, index, file, and retrieve forms, correspondence, and documents.
- Verify and complete records, forms, and documents. Enter requisitions and purchase orders.
- Receive and paying invoices.
- Schedule appointments.
- To promote and adhere to the workplace values of accountability, commitment, and teamwork to help enrich lives beyond expectation.
- Maintain absolute confidentiality of work-related issues, customer records, and restricted County information.
- Perform other related duties as required.
ANIMAL CARE & CONTROL- Work with sick animals that come in over the counter and need assistance.
- Coordinate microchip and licensing events.
- Research microchips and make contact with owners.
- Send bills to owners for services.
- Take calls from distraught and irate callers in stressful situations daily.
- Ability to work any day of the week, including weekends.
- Work with citizens trying to surrender their pets.
- Impound bite dogs and complete bite reports if needed.
- Must be able to multitask.
- Ability to communicate clearly and be a team player.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS TO PERFORM WORK:
- High school diploma or GED equivalent.
- Two (2) years of experience performing general secretarial or office work.
- Valid Driver's License with an Arizona Driver's License may be required within 30 days of hire.
- Or an equivalent combination of relevant education and/or experience may substitute for the minimum requirements.
Preferred Qualifications:- Animal handling experience.
- Chameleon software knowledge.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: - Knowledge of Business English, spelling, arithmetic, punctuation, and grammar.
- Knowledge of office practices and procedures.
- Knowledge of current MS office software.
- Knowledge of filing and recordkeeping.
- Skill in preparing and submitting reports.
- Skill in using data processing systems and other office equipment and machines.
- Ability to maintain complex filing systems.
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
- Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, other agencies, and the public.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:The work is sedentary requires exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. The work also requires the ability to crouch, finger, reach, perform repetitive motion, hear, speak, walk, and demonstrate mental and visual acuity.
WORK ENVIRONMENT: Work is performed in an animal shelter that requires the ability to be sensitive to change and responsive to changing goals, priorities, and needs. Must be comfortable with euthanasia decisions and medical issues that arise.
