SIGN-ON INCENTIVE PROGRAM: $2,000 sign-on incentive upon hire
SUMMARY OF POSITION: Under general supervision, the purpose of the job is to perform routine maintenance and operational activities associated with streets, drainage systems and water and wastewater systems.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Performs manual and semi-skilled laboring tasks related to construction, repair, and maintenance; cuts out streets and driveways; manually excavates, backfills and compacts excavated areas to facilitate repair; installs erosion control material (riprap, sandbags). Locates utilities on the job; digs out utilities by hand for machine. Performs simple measurements; interprets gauge and meter readings; performs routine safety inspections. Transports materials, tools and equipment to and from job sites; setups and removes warning signs and traffic control devices. Assists with cleaning and upkeep of vehicles and maintains checklist; cleans work area. Interacts professionally and respectfully with the public, coworkers and others in the course of daily work. Regular and timely attendance are required for this position. Must report to work for duty outside normally scheduled work hours in response to natural disasters, emergencies or critical incidents as determined by City Administration.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: Requires High School diploma or GED equivalent.
Must possess and maintain a valid State of Texas Driver’s License.
Must possess a Class B CDL with required endorsements or possess CDL permit or obtain license and endorsements within six (6) months of hire.
HIRING RANGE: $16.77 – $24.35 per hour , DOQ
