The Wakulla County Board of County Commissioners is seeking qualified applicants for a Code Enforcement Officer within the Board of County Commissioners Planning and Community Development Department. Essential duties include receiving and investigating complaints, documenting findings, collecting evidence, creating case files, and rendering enforcement. Conduct field investigations to determine compliance with County Codes and Ordinances. Preparing Notices of Violation, Hearing Notices, Statements of Case, various Orders, Liens and other legal documents and notices. Effectively dealing with emotional and angry citizens in a tactful manner. Conducting research, drafting correspondence, agenda requests, reports, and other documents. Attending meetings of the Code Enforcement Board and presenting case files, evidence and providing sworn testimony. Assessing consistency and compliance with County Code and Land Development Regulations. Provide day to day customer service and interaction with citizens, including answering inquiries, code enforcement, zoning, land use, flood zone and other development related questions. Performs administrative duties, including answering phones, operation of the front counter and customer service to the citizens and elected officials of Wakulla CountyHigh school diploma or equivalent. A.A. or Bachelor’s degree preferred. Two (2) years of experience in Code Enforcement or related work and certification by the Florida Association of Code Enforcement (FACE), or successful completion within one (1) year of employment. This position frequently encounters difficult and/or quarrelsome individuals. Must be able to remain calm and polite under pressure. Must have excellent phone etiquette skills.
Additional qualifying education and/or experience which provides the necessary knowledge, skills and abilities may be substituted one for the other on a year for year basis.A generous benefits package with a potential value of up to $30,000 annually.
