The City of Hampton is seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Grants Administrator to manage and support the City’s grant processes. This role involves researching and identifying grant funding opportunities, overseeing citywide grant applications, approvals, and contracts, and ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local grant requirements. The Grants Administrator will serve as the key liaison between city departments, federal and state agencies, and non-profit organizations, offering expert guidance in grant writing, preparation, and management. As the leader of this function, you will provide technical assistance and training, manage multiple projects, and lead various work teams.

- Bachelor's degree in English, Public Administration, Finance, Business Management, or a closely related field.
- Five (5) years of experience in public budgeting, grant writing and and/or finance. Three (3) years of experience administering grants.
- Demonstrated excellence in writing and editing.
- Requires broad knowledge of budgeting and business administration as well as significant knowledge of local, state and federal grant policies and procedures.
- Must possess a valid driver’s license and must have and maintain a satisfactory driving record based on the City of Hampton’s criteria.
- Must successfully pass a background check related to this position prior to any offer of employment or promotion.
Additional Requirements
- Requires strong organization and analytical skills.
- May require working beyond a standard 40-hour work week to include evenings and weekends.
- The incumbent may be considered “essential personnel” during City emergency situations or at the direction of the City Manager which may include long hours and unusual schedules.
