Temporary position is available for the Public Information Officer (PIO) for 3 -4 months in the Public Information Office at Fresno City College. The position is full time and assists the Director of Marketing and Communications with providing accurate information to the media and the public. This position presents a positive and professional image on behalf of the college; writes press releases, assists with social media content and promotes campus events to internal and external audiences. The PIO works with faculty, staff and students on issues and project pertaining to the college such as student accomplishments, special events and participation on college committees.
Essential duties and responsibilities include researching, composing, organizing and executing of college information internally and externally, that includes news releases, feature articles, speeches, scripts and reports that describe and highlight the college.
Internal communication includes, college newsletter, campus emails, website postings and related materials for employees concerning policy and organizational changes, special programs, staff achievements, awards and news of interest to faculty and staff.
Minimum Qualifications KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES Knowledge of:
• Principles, methods and practices in the design and implementation of public relations, promotion, publicity, marketing and advertising programs.
• Methods and techniques of writing, composition, layout and production for mass communications media resources.
• Goals, objectives and functions of college public information programs.
• Organization, functions and interrelationships of various operating units of State Center Community College District and its colleges.
• Activities and interests of community groups, professional organizations, employee associations and associated student organizations.
• Basic techniques, materials and equipment used in graphic arts design, layout and production.
• Digital media environments.
• Techniques, processes and materials used in photography.
• Capabilities of computer applications, systems and hardware used in the field of public relations.
