BHS' mission is to responsibly invest in community-driven work to increase access to behavioral health services and improve outcomes for all Larimer County residents. We are seeking a creative, strategic thinker with strong writing and design skills to help us fulfill our mission.
The Communications Specialist will develop and execute our department's communications strategy by using innovative tactics across various channels—including press, social media, our website, and brief publications—to promote awareness and engage targeted audiences. The typical schedule for this hybrid position is Monday through Friday, 8am to 4:30pm. Most Fridays and Mondays are worked remotely, and schedule flexibility is possible if coordinated with your supervisor.
Responsibilities
Specifically this position:
- Develops and implements internal and external communication plans
- Designs, manages, and analyzes web and social media content
- Engages with relevant community partners and grantees for behavioral health messaging and promotion
- Collaborates with team members to support projects across the department such as newsletters, grants and award application email(s), public relations, presentation development, community engagement, press releases/engagement, and other communication.

We Are Looking For a Candidate Who Will
- Have strategic communication experience with developing and executing comprehensive communication plans.
- Possess strong writing and editing skills, and craft clear, compelling content for diverse audiences and platforms.
- Demonstrate strong graphic design skills, and create high quality visual content
- Be collaborative/team-oriented and work effectively with various stakeholders and community partners to achieve common goals.
- Have experience in working with media outlets and handling press inquiries.
- Make data-driven decisions by analyzing communication metrics and adjusting strategies based on data insights.
Qualifications
All candidates will be screened for the following required minimum qualifications. Any candidate who does not meet all of the qualifications listed as required will be eliminated from the process.
- Two (2) years of experience working with design programs, such as Indesign, Illustrator, or Photoshop required.
- Three (3) years of experience in a directly related field or in the performance of similar duties and responsibilities required.
- Bachelor's Degree, or equivalent combination of education and/or experience, from an accredited college or university with major coursework in Public Relations, Marketing, Communications, or a related field required. Related education or experience may be substituted on a year for year basis.
- Possess reliable transportation to be able to work in any County facility and around the community as needed and required.
