The
Department of Parks and Recreation, Park Maintenance and Recreation Services Division, has two (2) vacancies for Recreation Director I located in Manoa and Kailua-Waimanalo. Under close supervision these trainee positions will learn the basics of professional recreation work. Duties include but are not limited to:
- Learns principles and techniques in planning, organizing, instructing, and directing recreational activities such as music, dance, creative dramatics, arts and crafts, sports and fitness, games, and other selected activities.
- Assists in maintaining discipline and order at playgrounds and recreations programs.
- Learns and applies methods to plan, organize, and supervise special activities such as picnics, camps, hikes, parties, and "finale" programs.
Special Working Conditions: May be required to work evenings, weekends, and holidays. Will serve as a Disaster Response worker during declared emergencies.

LICENSE / CERTIFICATE REQUIREMENT:
Prior to appointment: Possession of a valid appropriate driver's license (Type 3/automobile).
Prior to completion of probation, possession of a valid:
American Red Cross First Aid Certificate or equivalent.
American Red Cross or American Heart Association Adult, Child, and Infant CPR and AED Certificate, to include care for choking and obstructed airway, or equivalent.
DPR van certificate as required.
The above licenses/certificates must be obtained by the time indicated and maintained on a current basis thereafter as a condition of employment.
