The Public Utility District No. 1 of Skagit County ("District") is seeking a Customer Service Representative. Reporting to the Customer Service Supervisor, this position provides direct customer service to the PUD's walk-in, drive-up, and phone customers, responding to a variety of customer account inquiries, and provides cashiering and reception services. Core job responsibilities will include:
Customer Service and Cashiering: Process customer payments and internal cash transactions; front office reception and switchboard service; resolve customer issues including follow-up and resolution confirmation; set up new services. This position also prepares service orders for new services, disconnections and consumption checks.
The Customer Service Representative will need to balance and reconcile their daily cash drawer as well as balance credit card transactions from multiple systems.
Clerical: General data processing, filing, shredding and mail handling. Manage a large number of incoming phone calls and email transactions.
This is a very fast-paced environment with many things happening at once. The right candidate will be able to focus on their task while multiple things are going on around them.
Qualifications and Requirements:
- High School diploma or GED
- Experience in an office or customer service setting that provides the needed knowledge, skills and abilities for this position. Experience in utility customer service is strongly preferred.
- Able to mediate and facilitate resolution of customer concerns and issues in a compassionate manner.
Accurate and efficient data entry skills.
Bookkeeping knowledge to allow accurate posting and end of day reconciliations.
Prompt and regular attendance is mandatory
Valid driver's license is required.
Windows software experience required, and accounting/utility billing system experience is strongly preferred.
Excellent communication skills in English, both verbally and in writing.
Being bilingual in Spanish is a plus.
Ability to establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships.
This is a Union-represented position and is subject to the most current Collective Bargaining Agreement. The full pay range for Customer Service Representative is $27.46 to $35.16 per hour. The hiring pay range will be $27.46 to $30.32 depending on experience and qualifications.
