The successful candidate will be primarily responsible for the inspections of roadway, park and site work improvements.
The candidate should have experience in inspecting large construction projects including:
1) Roadway construction, both new construction and reconstruction.
2) Park improvements.
3) Parking lot improvements.
4) Utility distribution improvements as a part of roadway or other site work projects.
JOB CLASSIFICATION SUMMARY
Incumbents supervise, oversee, manage, and coordinate the Capital Improvement Program (CIP) inspections staff in the management of multiple large, complex construction projects as a part of the Town’s CIP Department. Duties include: Performing site/field inspections for capital improvement projects, record keeping, supervise inspections staff, review plans and specifications for CIP projects; assist project management teams in preparing reports, budgets, project close-outs and final reports.
DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS
This is a supervisory level construction inspection classification in the construction management job family that requires considerable and broad knowledge in assigned function. As a first level supervisor, assigns work to subordinates, counsels employees, resolves issues and grievances, conducts performance evaluations and provides recommendations for hiring, terminations, discipline, salary actions, etc.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS (at job entry)
Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s Degree in construction management, civil engineering, or related field and a minimum of five years of inspection experience with a public agency with two years supervisory experience.
LICENSING/CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
- Valid Arizona Class D Driver’s License
- Preferred – the American Public Works Association (APWA) CPII certification.
- Preferred – The American Concrete Institute (ACI) Grade IA certification.
