SCOPE OF POSITION
The Chief Operator is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of the Water/Wastewater Treatment Facilities, including controlling treatment plant machines/equipment to purify/clarify water for human consumption, maintaining the fire distribution system, and providing administrative support. The Facilities Operations team is committed to providing the employees and residents at Rockingham County a safe, supported, and environmentally conscious environment. The Chief Operator supervises, monitors, and maintains the overall operations of the Water/Wastewater Treatment Facility, including budgeting/purchasing requests, prepares/submits reports to the State and Federal regulating agencies/department Director/employees/residents, ensures safety policies/procedures and all State/Federal drinking water standards are being followed, tests water quality and equipment daily, monthly, and quarterly to log results, and maintains/repairs facilities, distribution systems, and equipment, including backflow prevention devices. As part of the supervisory team, the Chief Operator prepares performance reviews for the Operator and Assistant Operator, prepares/submits daily work orders, and conducts training. As part of our team-oriented environment, the Chief Operator participates in cross training with all other divisions in the Facilities Operations department, and may be required to be on-call and provide coverage during emergency situations, such as snow removal, for up to 16 hours.
- High school diploma or General Education Degree (GED); andÂ
- Five (5) years of related experience.
- An equivalent combination of work and experience will be considered.Â
- New Hampshire Water Treatment License grade 2.
- New Hampshire Water Distribution License grade 2.
- New Hampshire Wastewater Treatment License grade 2.
- New Hampshire UST Class B Certification or ability to obtain within 12 months of employment.
- New England Water Works Assoc (NEWWA) Backflow Prevention Device Inspector preferred, but not required.Â
- New Hampshire driver's license required.
