The Facilities Attendant is responsible for the orderly operation of the building; including opening and closing, building supervision, equipment monitoring, building maintenance and special event set-ups. The Facilities Attendant must be comfortable interacting with the public in order to provide an excellent customer experience and will present the facility at its best by providing overall maintenance and light custodial services.
Scope of Impact: The duties and responsibilities of this job are performed with latitude for independent judgement in accordance with Department and City policies, Federal, State and Local regulations and are based on detailed knowledge of department operations. Work is subject to periodic review by the supervisor, who provides input on approval of recommendations and discusses assignments, priorities and work.
CLASSIFICATION ESSENTIAL DUTIES:This job description is intended to represent only the key areas of responsibilities; specific position assignments will vary depending on the business needs of the department.- Provides a safe customer friendly environment for all users
- Responsible for opening and closing the facility as per work schedule assignments
- Assist in set-up and take down of special events including banquet tables, chairs, audio-visual equipment
- Responsible for building supervision including security, equipment monitoring, building maintenance and custodial duties
- Maintains a clean building throughout the day including meeting rooms, theater, gallery, offices and restrooms
- Maintain cleanliness of restrooms, grounds, and parking lots.
- Performs other duties of a similar nature or level.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: High School graduate or equivalent
Hours may include evenings and weekends.
FUNCTIONAL SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES MIGHT INCLUDE:The Hopkins Pavilion is a multi-use, year-round arena and community facility. The Pavilion's arena changes seasonally. During the fall/winter months (September to February) the facility operates as an ice arena. In the spring (March to mid-May), turf is installed. Summer is dry floor season with no ice or turf. The Pavilion's classrooms and and multi-use rooms are available for rent year-round for your next meeting or event. Positions in the Hopkins Pavilion may include:
- Collects user fees when required
- Assists Pavilion patrons
- Responsible for ice resurfacing at scheduled intervals
- Displays an awareness of energy saving methods
- Complete reports and logs during scheduled shifts
- Inform Pavilion Management on matters of Pavilion operation including equipment
- Clean restrooms, team rooms, arena, bleachers and community rooms
- Snow removal in front of all exit doors and sidewalks
The Hopkins Center for the Arts is a regional destination for arts, culture and entertainment. Building community through the arts, it offers artistic and educational opportunities for people of all ages. A full calendar of theater, concerts, exhibitions, classes and other events support this mission. Amenities include a 715 seat theater, black-box theater, art galleries, dance studio, classroom, meeting and multi-purpose spaces. In addition to the Centers' events and exhibitions, it is home to Stages Theatre Co., many Community Education classes, and has spaces available for rental events. Positions in the Hopkins Center for the Arts may include:
- Greet and interact with customers, tenants, and patrons to provide an excellent customer experience
- Maintenance and cleaning of the building including meeting rooms, theater, gallery, offices and restrooms
- Event set-up and take down including banquet tables, chairs, audio-visual equipment
- Snow removal in front of all exit doors and sidewalks
The Hopkins Activity Center is a community facility with a gym, kitchen and meeting rooms used by residents for active or passive, large or small activities. The Activity Center’s mission is to provide pathways to "Experience the Upside of Aging." It is a gathering place for mature adults to participate in recreational, social, educational, fitness and volunteer activities. Positions in the Hopkins Activity Center may include:
- Greet and interact with customers, tenants and patrons to provide an excellent customer experience,
- Provide information about the center rentals, programs and membership,
- Event set-up and take down including banquet tables, chairs, audio-visual equipment
- Maintenance and cleaning of the building including meeting rooms, gymnasium, kitchen and restrooms
- Snow removal in front of all exit doors and sidewalks
- The Hopkins Depot is a trailhead for Three Rivers Park District regional trails. In November 2024, it re-opened as a youth and rental space for the community! Positions in the Hopkins Depot may include:
- Greet and interact with customers to provide an excellent customer experience
- Makes coffee and handles sales of goods to customer
- Maintains product displays
- Operates a POS system
- Event set-up and take down including banquet tables, chairs, audio-visual equipment
- Maintenance and cleaning of the building including event spaces, kitchen, and restrooms
- Ability to lift and maneuver items that weigh up to 35 lbs.
- Ability to work independently
- Snow removal in front of all exit doors and sidewalks
