Job Overview
The City of Morgan’s Point Resort, Texas, (a lakeside community) is seeking an energetic, courteous, and professional Code Enforcement Officer to join our team to proactively Investigate and enforce City code and ordinance violations as well as respond to complaints generated by residents and agencies regarding housing, residential & commercial building, land use, zoning, businesses, and other property complaints. In addition, the Code Enforcement Officer proactively promotes programs to educate citizens, residents and business owners regarding code and zoning compliance.
Duties
- Communicating courteously and effectively with residents, the public, and business owners to ensure compliance with applicable codes; resolves complaints/problems related to code enforcement promptly and effectively.
- Proactively conducting regulatory compliance inspections pertaining to various City and State codes and issues notices of violation and/or citations.
- Making court appearances and providing appropriate testimony as a case agent on behalf of the City of Morgan’s Point Resort.
- Participating in planning, coordinating, and executing demolitions, cleanups, waste tire collection tasks, and other abatement actions, including participating in the filing and/or releasing of property liens.
- Providing code enforcement case management activities and processing various administrative and fiscal functions.
- Receiving and processing new complaints and inquiries submitted by residents, City departments, and other outside agencies in person, by phone, in writing, or by email.
- Working to proactively promote programs to educate citizens, residents and business owners regarding code and zoning compliance.
- Researching property ownership, land characteristics, occupancy status, and approved land uses utilizing internal and external data systems, internet resources, and other approved systems.
- Performing other duties, special tasks and responsibilities as directed.
Experience
- Associate degree
- Projects a professional demeanor
- Municipal experience in Code Enforcement.
- Effective communication skills – written and verbal
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail.
- Proficiency in communicating complex information to others.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
- Texas Code Enforcement Officer license & up to date on training requirements.
- Knowledge and experience in interpretation and enforcement of building codes and ordinances would be considered a plus.
Licenses Required:
Must possess and maintain a valid Texas Driver’s License with an acceptable driving record.
Must meet all State of Texas mandated Code Enforcement Officer licensing and training requirements.

This position has several physical demands and working environments that will require a person performing the duties of Code Enforcement Officer to have abilities ranging from walking long distances, sitting for long periods of time, lifting, pushing, pulling, reaching, handling, and other movements that require fine dexterity to properly perform, climbing, crawling, balancing, and kneeling for extended periods of time.
