The City of Collinsville is accepting applications for a Project Engineer. The Project Engineer will play a critical role in planning, designing, and managing infrastructure projects that enhance the quality of life for our community. This position requires a combination of technical expertise, project management skills, and a commitment to sustainable and efficient urban development.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
General responsibilities may include but are not limited to the following:
• Develop and review engineering plans, specifications, and cost estimates for municipal infrastructure projects, including roads, bridges, water systems, stormwater management, and public facilities.
• Conduct site assessments and feasibility studies to determine project requirements and constraints.
• Coordinate with architects, contractors, and other stakeholders to ensure compliance with design standards and regulations.
• Lead and manage multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring they are completed on time, within scope, and within budget.
• Prepare and present project reports, schedules, and updates to stakeholders, including municipal leaders and the public.
• Monitor construction activities, conduct inspections, and ensure adherence to safety standards and quality control measures.
• Collaborate with various municipal departments, government agencies, and community groups to ensure projects align with the municipality's strategic goals.
• Address public inquiries and concerns related to ongoing and upcoming projects.
• Foster positive working relationships with consultants, contractors, and regulatory authorities.
• Ensure all projects comply with local, state, and federal regulations, including environmental and zoning laws.
• Prepare permit applications and coordinate with regulatory agencies to secure necessary approvals.
• Provide technical support and guidance to municipal staff and other departments.
• Research and implement innovative engineering solutions and technologies to improve municipal services and infrastructure.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year college or university in civil engineering, or a related field, Professional Engineering License in the State of Illinois or the ability to obtain within 6 months. Required to have a valid Driver’s License.
Minimum of four (4) years of experience in civil engineering, project management, or related fields, preferably in a municipal or public sector setting.
SALARY and BENEFITS
Salary range is $75,878.40 - $94,744.00 per year, depending on qualifications.
