The City of Grand Coulee, Washington is accepting applications for the position of “Police Chief” in a Civil Service competitive oral board process. The position is an exempt, non-union position with a compensation annual salary range of $110,000-130,000 with a full benefit package of insurance and leave.

Located in North Central Washington and northern part of Grant County. The Grand Coulee Dam Area is an outdoor recreation paradise and home to the Grand Coulee Dam, the largest hydro-power generating facility in the United States.

SCOPE:
The Chief serves under the direction of the Mayor and in conjunction with the Public Safety Committee of the City Council. The position is FSLA exempt, non-union position. The position is responsible for the overall Law Enforcement program for the City. The Chief works both in an office and the field. The Police Chief is a commissioned officer for regular patrols, response to callouts and crime investigations,
QUALIFICATIONS:
Must be a citizen of the United States.
Education and Experience:
Must have a high school diploma or equivalency as provided in RCW 28B.50.536.
It is preferred that the applicant possesses a degree in law enforcement associated field from an accredited college or university.
Must have two (2) years uninterrupted experience as a commissioned police officer, preferably with three (3) years as a supervisor or a higher command structure.
Progressive senior management and/or administrative experience is preferred. Experience as a chief is preferred.
Any combination of education and experience, which provides the applicant with the desired skills, knowledge, and ability required to perform the job, may be substituted for these qualifications.
