GENERAL PURPOSE
Performs a variety of routine clerical, secretarial, administrative work in support of law enforcement activities.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED
Works under the close supervision of the Support Services Commander.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities
Review all reports from officers for completeness and ensure follow-up when necessary.
Redactions on audio/video and printed material, which may include disturbing images, sounds, and language.
Expunge/seal records
Ensure that all records management practices adhere to state and federal laws, including the Florida Public Records Law and the Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) security policy.
Assist in maintaining data security and confidentiality of sensitive information.
Assist in the preparation of a variety of reports and records including officer's Daily Log, reports of investigation, field interrogation reports, worthless check forms, vehicle impoundment forms, etc.;
Receive the public and answers questions; responds to inquiries from employees, citizens and others and refers, when necessary, to appropriate persons.
Provide a variety of police related information to the public and governmental agencies.
Check and maintains daily logs for police activity;
Record and file offense/incident reports, citations, warnings, notices and documents.
Maintain Records Management System, enters data into the computer, and generates a variety of records management system reports. Operates and utilizes NCIC criminal data information systems;
Maintains the Uniform Crime Reports program (UCR);
Provide a variety of police related information to the public and governmental agencies;
Receive incoming calls, determines nature and urgency of calls, and coordinates appropriate response;
Receives requests for special or specific information from officers on calls; follows up with appropriate information and relays the same back to the officer;
Compose, type, and edit correspondence, reports, memoranda, and other material requiring judgment as to content, accuracy, and completeness. Establishes and maintains records systems using moderately independent judgment;
Perform duties of cashier, receive currency, provide change, issue receipts, and maintain logs. Monitor and deliver records revenue to the City of Lake Wales.
Collect, organize, and deliver arrest reports to the Office of the State Attorney.
Attend department meetings and take minutes.
Maintain record of all K9 incident/training reports.
Maintain and complete destruction of department documents in accordance with general orders and records retention guidelines.
Assist with crime prevention programs and presentations to promote crime prevention, public safety and to promote the interests of the department.
Maintain and deliver written notices.
Forward parking citations to Clerk of Courts.
- Must be 18 years or older at the time of employment; (B) Must possess, or be able to obtain by time of hire, a valid Florida driver's license without record of suspension or revocation in any State; (C) No felony convictions or disqualifying criminal histories within the past seven years; (D) Must be able to pass a thorough background investigation.
Education And Experience
- High school diploma or GED equivalent; and
- Two years of general office, communications, or records management experience, or
- Any equivalent combination of education and experience.
Necessary Knowledge, Skills And Abilities
- Knowledge of modern law enforcement principles, procedures, techniques, and equipment;
- Skilled in operating office equipment; and
- Ability to learn the applicable laws, ordinances, and department rules and regulations; Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing; Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with subordinates, peers and supervisors; Ability to follow verbal and written instructions; Ability to learn the City's geography.
