JOB POSTING
Journeyman Lineman
Join our team at Chelan County Public Utility District. As one of the largest hydroelectric generating utilities in the Northwest, our mission at Chelan PUD is to improve the quality of life for the thousands of people who call our pristine desert and mountain community home.
Overview
Journeyman Lineman duties include construction and maintenance of overhead and underground transmission and distribution systems. Direct responsibility for completing assigned work in a safe and efficient manner and for the general condition of trucks, special equipment and tools.
Responsibilities
Must efficiently construct all phases of overhead and underground line work according to District line construction standards and practices; must know and understand District operating instructions.
Understand WAC 45 and OSHA 1910.269 rules and be responsible for tools and equipment needed to install and maintain the District's electrical system. This responsibility may include purchasing and inventory of new equipment, tools, and learning new technology.
Once qualified will be required to fill-in as Temporary Foreman or Serviceman on an as-needed basis.
Maintain regular and predictable attendance: Perform related duties and responsibilities as required. Comply with District policies. Complete all required training. Maintain a working knowledge and comply with District safety procedures and specific safety requirements of this position, and those in accordance with applicable provisions of the Revised Code of Washington (RCW) and Washington Administrative Code (WAC).
As an essential function, drive a motorized vehicle while conducting business on behalf of the District.

Qualifications
Education
Equivalent experience (year for year) may substitute for required education.
Must have completed a JATC or NJATC lineman apprenticeship or a three (3) or four (4) year accredited lineman apprenticeship. Must provide written documentation of related training experience with at least one thousand (1,000) documented hours of working a conductor energized at primary voltage. Acceptable documentation includes copies of apprenticeship certificates, college transcripts or journey-level lineman card equal to NJATC requirements required.

Valid Driver's License at hire and WA Driver's License within 30 days of hire required. and
Class A CDL License upon hire is required. and
CDL Airbrake Restriction Removed upon hire is required.
Skills and Abilities
A fully skilled incumbent will have the following knowledge skills & abilities:
Strong working knowledge of the fundamentals of electricity as pertains to utility systems.
Ability to develop and maintain a working knowledge of and comply with District safety procedures in accordance with applicable statutes, regulations, policies, practices and procedures.
Thorough knowledge of electrical theory and the methods, equipment and materials used in line construction and maintenance.
Ability to communicate effectively with others.
Must possess or obtain within three months from hire date, flagging certification, First Aid and CPR certification cards.
Must maintain Forklift Certification for Forklift class 4&5 and Lift Code 3&4.
Ability to climb poles and towers.
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be an experienced operator possessing the ability to operate all line equipment including line trucks, bucket trucks, backhoes, all hand tools, wire pulling equipment, jackhammer, hot sticks, forklift, chainsaw, tensioners, line strippers, digger-derrick trucks, line stringing equipment and all associated construction materials safely and proficiently. Covers energized lines with line barriers/rubber goods to facilitate safe handling of high-voltage lines without interrupting service. Be proficient using hot sticks in all phase of line work. Must be able to use or learn to use desktop or laptop computers.
Must be proficient in reading, writing and speaking English.

Drives or operates motorized vehicles for purposes of transporting passengers, including other employees (occasional driving of a District passenger vehicle is not a Safety Sensitive job duty)
Drives or operates heavy machinery, or uses rotating or heavy equipment, or power machines or tools in the vicinity of the public or other employees
Works with, in, on, or near distribution or transmission lines or equipment in a manner that can impact the safe flow or distribution of electricity or water, or otherwise create imminent harm to the public or other employees, such as flooding, fire or explosions

LICENSE REQUIREMENTS
A valid driver's license is required for this position (verified upon hire). A valid Washington State driver's license is required within 30 days of employment. Required to possess and maintain a valid Washington State Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with the air brake restriction removed. If a CDL is required or is requested by the District on a voluntary basis, the individual will be subject to the applicable federal regulations, which include random drug testing.
