Reporting to the Board of Directors, the Executive Director (ED) will have overall strategic and operational responsibility for United Way of Gordon County (UWGC), including community engagement, networking, fiscal responsibility, fundraising, and staff management.
The ED will be a mission-driven, collaborative, and innovative leader serving as the brand ambassador and champion of the UWGC. This person will be responsible for connecting with a constituency of philanthropists, donors, individuals, associations, agencies, education partners, business leaders, and other stakeholders.
The ED will leverage the power of relationships and networks, working with public and private organizations across sectors to improve conditions in the community. They will possess a high level of broad business skills, a knowledge of human resources, financial acumen, general marketing principles, and strategic management needed to lead the organization to generate resources and financial support. The Executive Director will be a driver of change, serving as the chief spokesperson and representing UWGC to ensure the mission, programs, people, programs, and services are represented positively and collaboratively.
Overall Responsibilities
· Commitment to the mission and vision of the organization through the evaluation of needs-based assessments and strategic planning that best serves the Gordon County community.
· The ED will lead fundraising efforts and establish and maintain direct relationships with donors and partners that align with UWGC’s impact areas and the needs of the Gordon County community.
· Lead the development, implementation, and execution of the organization's annual operational plan, organizational budget, programs, funds distribution, and management processes.
· Serves as the principal resource to support a strong Board of Directors, serves as ex-officio of each committee, and builds board involvement with strategic direction for ongoing organization operations.
· Leads, coaches, and provides oversight to UWGC staff as well as organizations and programs funded under the organization’s strategic and operational plans.
· Serve as an ambassador to motivate others to participate by contributing their time and resources.
· Coordinates annual United Way campaign, including workplace campaigns, events, and fund designations.
· Community collaboration through networking and community involvement.

· Organizational Leadership: Display a clear understanding of human resources and personnel policies, program development, program evaluation, budgeting, and financial planning.
· Mission Focused: Broad knowledge of the Gordon County community, including major employers, governmental and educational institutions, non-profit organizations, and other vital organizations.
· Financial Oversight: Knowledge and skills to maintain accountability for the operational and fiscal integrity of the organization, which includes analysis of events and programs.
· Fiscal Management: Knowledge of fiscal oversight, including organizational spending, budget compliance, risk mitigation, and fiscal integrity.
· Network Oriented: Ability to identify critical community and organizational issues/opportunities and to think creatively and strategically for solutions in collaboration with community partners, leaders, and agencies.
· Results Driven: Knowledge of working with a Board of Directors to ensure the organization’s strategic plan is established and measurable actions are achieved through programs and operations.
· Fundraising: A proven track record and broad understanding of fund development avenues, including both individual and corporate giving opportunities.
· Relationship Oriented: Display a high degree of proven personal integrity and character with a high-energy level in driving self and others toward goals and achieving results and in the coordination of tasks.
Qualifications
· Preferred Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Non-Profit Management, Organizational Leadership, Business or Finance, or at least five years’ experience in non-profit or organizational management.
· Excellence in organizational management with the ability to coach staff, manage and develop teams, and set and achieve strategic objectives.
· Experience and knowledge of fiscal management that includes budgeting, financial oversight, policy management, and strategic planning.
· Past success working with a Board of Directors with the ability to cultivate existing board member relationships.
· Strong marketing, public relations, and fundraising experience with the ability to engage a wide range of stakeholders and cultures.
· Strong written and verbal communication skills; a persuasive and passionate communicator with excellent interpersonal and multidisciplinary project skills.
· Action-oriented, entrepreneurial, adaptable, and innovative approach to business planning.
