The Vice President of Service is responsible for the overall management and leadership of the Service Operations and Sales Teams within a designated region. This role ensures that all business activities align with the company’s strategic goals, focusing on operational efficiency, customer satisfaction, and profitability. The VP will oversee both the day-to-day operations and long-term growth strategies.
Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership:
- Develop and implement strategic operations, sales, and business development plans to achieve regional growth and profitability targets.
- Ensure operational efficiency and service excellence in all aspects of mechanical services, including preventative maintenance, project work, and facilities management.
Sales & Business Development:
- Lead the sales team to identify new market opportunities, develop relationships with key clients, and grow the company’s customer base.
- Collaborate with Sales Associates to create and execute sales strategies that drive revenue and market penetration.
Operational Excellence:
- Provide oversight of service operations to ensure project profitability, timely delivery, and high customer satisfaction.
- Lead and mentor the Service Operations Director to implement policies, procedures, and performance standards for service delivery.
- Manage the regional P&L, ensuring effective budgeting, forecasting, and resource allocation.
Team Leadership & Development:
- Foster a high-performance culture by developing the skills and capabilities of direct reports and their teams.
- Ensure effective workforce planning and leadership development within the service and sales teams.
- Maintain a strong focus on team member engagement, safety, and compliance with all relevant regulations and standards.
Customer Relationship Management:
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key customers and partners, representing the company in contract negotiations and service delivery discussions.
- Ensure customer satisfaction through the timely resolution of issues and a focus on continuous improvement in service delivery.
Financial Oversight:
- Oversee financial performance, including cost control, pricing strategies, and profitability across all service operations.
- Work closely with the leadership team to ensure financial targets are met and aligned with overall company goals.
Industry Engagement & Representation:
- Actively participate in local Mechanical Service Contractors Association (MSCA) or Rocky Mountain Mechanical Contractors Association (RMMCA) activities, including labor negotiations, Joint Apprenticeship Committees (JAC), and the Mechanical Service Professional (MSP) Programs.
- Represent the company in various industry oversight committees to ensure alignment with industry standards and best practices.
Community and Philanthropic Engagement:
- Lead or collaborate with others on community and philanthropic activities that align with the company’s values and mission.
- Actively support corporate social responsibility initiatives, fostering a positive impact in the community while enhancing the company’s brand and reputation.
Requirements
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering or construction management or equivalent industry experience.
Experience:
- 15 years of experience in mechanical services, with at least 10 years in a leadership role managing operations and/or sales teams.
- Proven experience in P&L management.
- Proven experience in fostering and executing business growth strategies in a service environment.
Knowledge, skills, and abilities:
- Proven ability to motivate, inspire, and lead cross-functional teams toward shared goals.
- Ability to develop and execute long-term strategies that align with business objectives.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively at all levels of the organization.
- Ability to manage budgets, forecast financial performance, and drive profitable growth.
- Commitment to building and maintaining strong customer relationships.
- Excellent Time management and organizational skills.
- Knowledge of the following computer programs: MS Word, Excel.
- Strong problem-solving, negotiation, and conflict-management skills.
- Ability to successfully drive projects through completion.
Physical and/or Travel demands:
The role requires regular travel to job sites and occasional travel to regional offices. The position may involve frequent standing, walking, and the use of standard office equipment.
Benefits and Compensation:
- The range for this position has been established at $200,000 to $240,000 per year and is U.S. Engineering’s good faith and reasonable estimate at the time of the posting. The compensation offered to the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty, and training.
