Job Responsibilities
Under limited supervision of the Public Health Preparedness Manager, the Public Health Preparedness Specialist will:
Coordinate emergency planning activities for district internal partners relating to the agency’s Emergency Operations Plan and all affiliated annexes/appendices. Interface with Georgia Department of Public Health (DPH) to support grant requirements relating to response activities and deliverables. Work with the District Training and Exercise Coordinator to develop DKPH-specific exercises and training to validate emergency plans. Ensure consistent engagement with internal and external partners to support plan development and maintenance. Assist in other planning and exercise development, as necessary. Supervise inventory management of Public Health Preparedness supplies and equipment, including maintenance scheduling, as required. Coordinate public health response education, situational awareness, and partnership development within local Emergency Management Agency. Establish partnerships with local governments, secondary schools, and post-secondary schools (nursing and Public Health programs). Ensure partnership development includes preparedness initiatives, response activities, community partner education, and exercise evaluation in accordance with Homeland Security Exercise Evaluation Program (HSEEP) guidance. Serve as backup to the Public Health Preparedness Manager during responses to public health emergencies, incidents, or events.
Minimum Qualifications
High school diploma/GED and three (3) years of experience providing educational, training or instructional services in functional area; or one (1) year of experience required at the lower level Training & Dev Spec 2 (GSP121).
Preferred Qualifications: : Experience in public health program management, in areas such as emergency preparedness or emergency management. Experience teaching, training, or creating/developing emergency communications. Experience with all hazard planning and plans writing, specifically related to operationalizing planning documents on a federal, state, regional or local level. Experience in the use of MS Word, Excel, and SharePoint computer application software. Master’s degree in a related field. .
