POSITION OPENING – UTILITIES MAINTENANCE EMPLOYEE
The City of Rolling Meadows Public Works Department seeks a professional, dedicated individual to provide full-time operational and maintenance-related duties, in the Utilities Division of the Public Works Department, under the general supervision of the Utilities Supervisor, along with the Utilities Superintendent.
Duties and Responsibilities: Duties include performing a wide variety of responsibilities related to the repair, maintenance, and emergency response to above- and underground-related assets; including, potable water mains and services, sanitary sewer mains and services, storm sewer mains, and stormwater conveyances. The successful candidate may also perform duties required for the water operation and production system, including tasks related to water sampling and monitoring, GIS and SCADA operations, production station maintenance, utility locating, meter reading, and meter maintenance. Availability to act as an emergency response both during and after hours is required. The use of heavy machinery and specialized equipment is required, including but not limited to the use of a backhoe, front-end loader, jetting and hydro-excavating equipment, skid steer, dump trucks, snow plowing equipment, etc.
This position requires a high-energy, approachable, detail-oriented individual with good communication and customer service skills. The successful candidate will have the ability to
handle a variety of different tasks and be able to prioritize and manage tasks and maintenance responsibilities in an efficient and organized manner.
Qualifications: Qualified candidates will have a high school diploma or equivalent, with progressive continuing education (in line with Department expectations). One to three years of
experience in municipal government, utility maintenance, and/or other construction-related work. State of Illinois Class “B” CDL, with certification of completion of the air brake vehicle test, and class “N” tanker endorsement within twelve (12) months of hire date. Ability to obtain a Class “A” CDL within thirty-six (36) months from the date of hire. Candidates
with an IEPA Class “C” Water Supply Operators license would be preferred, but not required. This position will also need to perform all other duties as assigned.

The salary range for this position is $59,610 to $92,475, with starting salary dependent on experience and qualifications, with annual adjustments commensurate with the City’s Local 150 Union contract.
