SUMMARY
As an Airport Mechanic III, you will have the opportunity to perform journeyman level maintenance, troubleshooting and repairs on Airport mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems. You will be responsible for inspecting, maintaining, and repairing the airport terminal buildings and facilities.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
- Inspecting and performing preventative maintenance and repairs on baggage handling systems and passenger boarding bridges.
- Maintaining and repairing the terminal mechanical plant and related mechanical and electrical equipment including pumps, valves, boilers, chillers, motors, switchgear, motor control centers, breaker panels, and other components.
- Surveying the overall condition of the terminal building and other airport facilities to determine any repairs that are needed.
- Troubleshooting motor controls and PLC controls for electrical and mechanical systems.
- Working on HVAC systems and air handlers.
- Completing plumbing and electrical repairs and maintenance.
- Assisting in snow removal operations during winter operations.
- Completing work orders, PM’s and documenting work completed.
- Other duties as assigned and as needed.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
- A high school diploma or equivalent.
- Two (2) years of building and facility maintenance experience.
- Journeyman level experience in mechanical and electrical repairs.
- Motor controls and PLC experience.
- Must pass a 10-year background check and drug/alcohol screening.
- Possession of a valid Class C driver’s license. Class B preferred.
- Movement area certified in 45 days and completion of FEMA N.I.M.S. in 30 days of employment.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
- Knowledge of building HVAC systems with certifications preferred.
- Knowledge of PLC and motor controls.
- Knowledge of reading blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals.
- Knowledge of boilers chillers and cooling towers.
- Skilled in conveyor belt maintenance.
- Skilled in plumbing and electrical repairs.
- Skilled in mechanical repairs.
- Skilled in carpentry.
- Ability to be part of a team in a dynamic work environment.
- Ability to troubleshoot problems independently with minimum supervision.
- Ability to work shifts, weekends, holidays and 24-hour callout.
- Ability to climb on and around catwalks, scaffolds, and equipment.
- Ability to climb 150’ towers and operate aerial lifts up to 100’.

The employee works in a dynamic environment that requires being sensitive to change and responsive to changing goals, priorities, and needs. The employee works in an environment with heavy equipment and machinery that could result in bodily harm to co-workers or others. The employee works in a dynamic indoor and outdoor environment in all types of weather that may periodically have unpredicted requirements or demands. Employee is available for call back including nights, weekends, holidays and inclement weather. This position is subject to scheduled shift work anytime from 3:45 am until 9:30 p.m. 7 days a week. Scheduled shifts work 4 days on 3 days off 10-hour shifts. Subject to weekend work and overtime.
