Annual Salary Range: $38,987.83 - $46,772.39 Grade: 23 (Employee: 7% on your current salary, whichever is greater; or 10.5% on your current salary, whichever is greater, if position is 3 grades or higher than current position) Appointment to a position in the classified service shall be at the minimum of the corresponding pay range unless otherwise approved.

Examination is announced to establish an employment list to fill in the Gas Department, and future vacancies as they occur to perform to supervise the installation, maintenance, and repairs of gas distribution and metering systems, ensuring reliable delivery of natural gas fuel to all City of Alexandria customers. Organizes, schedules, supervises, assigns, reviews and inspects operations, maintenance and construction activities of the Gas Distribution department; schedules system installations and major repairs to properly manage power outages. Supervises assigned crews on an assigned shift; instructs, assigns and reviews work, maintains standards, coordinates activities, allocates personnel and acts on employee problems; evaluates work processes and makes recommendations as appropriate; offers advice and assistance as needed. This position is subject to 24-hour call.

Minimum Qualifications:

· High school diploma or GED; supplemented by five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in the maintenance and repair of gas distribution systems; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job.

· Must possess a valid driver’s license. Must possess a valid State of Louisiana driver’s license upon appointment to the position and a valid State of Louisiana Class D driver’s license within 60 days.

· Must obtain certifications as required by the Office of Pipeline Safety within six months of hire.

Work Schedule:

Monday - Friday 7:00a - 3:30p with Rotating Call After Hours, Weekends, and Holidays

This examination may consist of a written test, a rating of training and experience, a performance test or any combination thereof deemed necessary to adequately screen and rank applicants. Examination notices will be sent out via email with a testing date, time, and location.
