Job SummaryThe Personnel Commission announces a PROMOTIONAL recruitment. This recruitment is only open to current classified employees. Probationary classified employees may apply, but will not be able to be certified for final interview until probationary period is completed. This will result in the establishment of a Promotional list for classified employees who are currently employed by the district in other positions. This list will be used to fill current and future vacancies and will be active for one year or until cancelled. There is currently ONE position open in the Communications Department. This is an 8 hour/day, 12 month position. Under the direction of the Director of Communications/Public Information, perform a variety of complex technical and clerical duties in support of the public information and communications office; compose, design, edit, proofread, and distribute print, electronic, and multimedia materials produced for internal and public consumption; assist in the implementation of communications to community, staff, and students; plan, organize, and execute programs, projects, special events, and other district initiatives.Requirements / Qualifications

The knowledge, skills, and abilities required for this classification would typically be acquired through associate’s degree with coursework in journalism, communications, marketing, public relations, or a related field and two years of job related professional experience in the development, design and implementation of communications/public relations strategies, and related media, including online and print materials. A bachelor’s degree in communications, journalism, marketing, or public relations is preferred. Experience working for a public agency is desirable.
