The Role

Our next Police Chief will wear many hats (in addition to the one that says "Chief"), overseeing everything from crime prevention and emergency management to community relations. You’ll lead a skilled team of officers and make a tangible impact on the lives of our 2,400 residents and our millions of visitors. Here’s a taste of what you’ll do:

Set Strategy: Develop and implement forward-thinking policies and procedures to enhance our city’s safety.
Community Engagement: Build strong relationships with residents, businesses, and tourists alike, ensuring everyone feels safe and welcome in Kemah.
Lead and Inspire: Train, motivate, and evaluate your team while fostering a positive and supportive workplace.
Serve with Heart: From strategic planning to handling sensitive issues, you'll be a hands-on, approachable leader who serves as a beacon of trust.

What We’re Looking For

The ideal candidate will bring a blend of experience in police administration, strategic thinking, and genuine community engagement. We want someone who:

Has 8+ years of law enforcement experience with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
Knows the ins and outs of community policing and embraces 21st-century policing principles.
Holds a Texas Peace Officer License and is ready to establish residency within 25 miles of our city limits.
Has an unwavering commitment to transparency and open communication with the community.

The Perks

Salary: $95,000–$125,000 (commensurate with experience).
Benefits: Health, dental, vision, life insurance, retirement with a 2:1 employer match, and generous time off.
Flexible living: No residency requirement in Kemah, but you’ll need to live within 25 miles (we want you close in case of emergencies).
